Ten Things – Skye

On my last Sunday at St. Francis a marvelous young woman (whom I’ve known since she was a freshman in high school) spoke to the congregation and shared the following:

10 things I’ve Learned from Jim

1. When all is lost, watch a movie.

2. Nature is the way that God speaks.

3. Be of service to others rather than being in service.

4. God scoffs at sameness and boxes, so think outside the box. Actually, the box doesn’t exist. What even is a box?

5. Choose love always.

6. You can learn more about Jesus’ teachings by hearing a story about Jim’s high school cross country team in Texas on their morning runs than you can in the Bible.

7. You can have many careers, and when the time is right you will find your way back to ministry. We all find our way back to ministry.

8. Yuma isn’t that bad.

9. God is in everyone, everything, even down to the particles and atoms, therefore we are One.

10. Memes are cool.

In many ways, she summarizes me better than I can myself.
