Community Connection
“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
We have come to the third stop on our trip to visit Desert Mission families and learn about their unique Christmas celebrations, and this week our focus widens and all of our senses are engaged. That’s because this week we are visiting four different families to sample the special foods they enjoy as a part of their Christmas meal and explore how our holiday experience is shaped by the foods we eat.
Christmas Around the World, Part 2 – Caroling!
This Advent season, our annual trip around the world to explore Christmas traditions from different places looks a little different. Instead of visiting a different country each week, we are visiting a different Desert Mission family and learning about the special traditions that make their Christmas celebration unique. This week’s stop: Susie G’s house, where holiday joy brings the whole neighborhood together!
Christmas Around the World, Part 1 – Gift Scavenger Hunt!
The Advent season has arrived, which means it’s time to kick off our annual trip around the world to explore Christmas traditions from different places! We’re mixing it up this year and instead of visiting a different country each week, we’ll visit a different Desert Mission family and learn about the special traditions that make their Christmas celebration unique. Our first stop: Marianne and John H’s house, where opening gifts is an adventure!
Letters to Santa
This week, we wanted to share a time-sensitive Christmas activity, but due to events which we’ll get into in this post, we’d like to share both the original activity as well as an alternative. So buckle up for a rundown of how to write a letter to Santa – or to someone else!
Gratitude in Two Minutes
Thanksgiving is approaching, and preparations for the festivities are in progress in many of our homes. Just as you prepare your home and hearth, we invite you to prepare your heart to celebrate your blessings, two minutes at a time.
