Capture Your Easter Joy
In Sunday School, we talk about how the sadness and joy of Easter cannot be separated. They are both a part of this day, but we can choose what to focus on at a given time. And if your family is looking for a way to embrace the joy of Easter, you can create your own photo booth!
First, you’ll need a background for your photos. You might choose to pose in front of your favorite curtains or a particularly nice-looking wall, or hang a sheet to create a blank canvas. You can even make a festive backdrop by hanging colorful streamers or paper chains. Use whatever color palette speaks to you!
Next, create your props. You’ll need eggs, bunnies, flowers, and other Easter-inspired shapes. If you’d prefer to just print, cut, and go, there are some great printable templates on photographer Kristen Duke’s website. You can print them right onto cardstock, cut them out, and attach a dowel, popsicle stick, or paper straw to each one. But you can also use the printables as inspiration and craft your own original designs! Remember that your props don’t have to be perfect to be perfect for you, so have fun and get creative. While you work, you can talk about the meaning of your favorite Easter symbols. Sometimes it feels like the “stuff” around Easter is disconnected from the holiday itself, but when we remember that things like eggs, bunnies, and lilies are symbols of new life and resurrection, we can get back to the heart of what Easter really means. Take your time crafting together and taking silly pictures in your photo booth. You’ll end up with some cute snapshots of your favorite people, and hopefully some joyful memories as well. Just remember to share your forays into photo booth construction with us, either in person or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
