Tell the Creation Story You Created
Last week, you were encouraged to make your own version of the Godly Play story of creation. This week tell it to your family!
Use the plaques you made (or will make - there's still time!) for each day of creation. There are of course some flourishes, but the core of the Godly Play script for this story is simple: "On the ____ day, God gave us the gift of ____. When God saw the ____, God said 'It is good.' And that was the end of the ____ day." There is a lovely demonstration video here: Stories of God at Home.
This website also has other wonderful resources, including a link to purchase "official" story materials and the book that has story scripts and more information about the Godly Play method and how to use it at home. You can tell the story all at once or spread it out over several days or more. Remember to take plenty of time to ask, "I wonder" questions ("I wonder if you have seen or touched water today?") AND share family stories ("I remember when we went camping by the river") for each gift of creation. Keep the focus on the story, not the audience, and let yourself experience the glory of God's gifts instead of feeling pressure to tell the story "perfectly." When it comes down to it, what matters is that your family is engaging in the story together. =)
