Welcome Back! We’ve Missed You

This morning, full worship services were held in the church for the first time since March of last year. It was so wonderful to see so many smiling faces in the building after such a long time away, and such a blessing to be able to gather safely together once again.

On that note, today’s Family Time activity centers around gratitude for our ongoing reconnection. During the services, everyone was asked to look around and identify something about the church itself that they’ve missed over the last year. If your family wasn’t able to be with us in person today, you can do the same thing with each other! What will you be most grateful to see again when your family returns to the church?

After tapping into our gratitude for the church itself, everyone was asked to look around and identify a person they have missed seeing since we last met in person. You can do this at home, too – whose face have you been missing while we’ve been apart? What is the specific thing about them that you have missed the most? Maybe it’s their smile, or their laugh, or hearing them sing from the row behind you. Our in-person worshipers were asked to find this person after the service and tell them what they’ve missed the most – if you were present but didn’t get to do this, or weren’t present and would like to take part, do it this week! Call them, or text them, or email them, and tell them what you’ve missed the most about them! And perhaps you can find a way to reconnect in person – masked, or in the park, or even in a video call.

As we continue reconnecting, let’s hold onto those things we’ve missed the most about each other, and commit to reminding each other – and ourselves – of the love and gratitude we feel for our Desert Mission family whether we are together or apart.

If you’d like to publicly share something or someone you’ve missed, feel free to add your thoughts to our Facebook page!
