Thank You, Veterans

Veterans Day is this coming Wednesday. Here are some ideas for how you can honor the sacrifices of our service members, past and present:

  • Learn about Veterans Day. Read about the history and traditions of the day by clicking here.

  • Check out this book list.

Once your family has learned about and recognized the sacrifices of our veterans, you may be inspired to add them to your prayers, or thank service members when you see them in public, or write them letters. There are also many other ways to directly impact the lives of veterans:

  • Support a veteran-owned business by searching this business directory (it's a bit challenging to navigate, but has lots of good info).

  • The adults in your family can become trained to help vets and their families access information, support, and resources through Be Connected, a state-sponsored mental health advocacy program run in cooperation with Arizona Coalition for Military

  • Get involved with our local Veteran Affairs (VA) – there are lots of opportunities to volunteer and donate, and you can choose the ways that seem most doable for your family.

However you choose to honor our veterans in the coming week, remember that your gratitude and support are needed all year round. If your family has a special way of observing Veterans Day, feel free to share it below. And if you are a service member, past or present, thank you for your service!
