Community Connection
“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
Go Rainbow Hunting!
We’ve had a lovely, rainy weekend here in Scottsdale. It’s been a much-needed break from the heat, a nice deep drink for the plants, and it finally feels like fall! The rainy weather also brings with it the possibility of seeing a rainbow…
Step into Character
Building on the connections we started creating last week by reading and re-reading our favorite Bible stories, this week we invite you to step right into the scripture itself and create a Bible character monologue!
Tell and Retell
There are lots of resources out there for those looking to read Bible stories to kids. Many of them mention being mindful that story time is not boring – the same old stories, told the same old way, over and over. This week, lean into the magic of repetition!
Play Fair
It's a big time for baseball fans, as the regular season ends – and the playoffs begin – in less than two weeks. Your family may not be following the season all that closely, perhaps just closely enough to know when the Dbacks special is available at Taco Bell, but regardless, you may have heard of the records currently being challenged.
Honor the Equinox
In just a few days, September 22, we’ll experience the Autumnal Equinox, a poetic-sounding astrological event that occurs every fall when the day and the night are the same length. The day before it, day will be slightly longer than night, and the day after, the night will be longer, and the darkness of winter will be on its way. You can honor this special day in a few different ways.
