Have a Meaningful Labor Day.
This holiday isn't always talked about, but it has great significance in the history of our country, and has taken on new meaning this year. Here are some ideas for how to honor the struggles and triumphs of workers:
* Talk about the history of Labor Day and why it's important. An all-ages-friendly overview can be found here: History of Labor Day
* Share your job with those close to you. Kids often do not know what the adults in their lives do for a living, and even many adults lack a true understanding of other adults' day-to-day work lives. Talk about your work (or your former work, if you're retired) and take pride in your accomplishments!
* Write a thank you note to an essential worker. This year, more than most others, has given us an appreciation of the labor and sacrifices of essential workers. Write a note of gratitude to your mail carrier - all you have to do is drop it in your mailbox - or send one to your local fire or police station, hospital, or grocery store. This website has a nationwide directory of fire stations: fire department
A quick internet search will yield the address of the other service providers near you.
