Community Connection
“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
Let’s Celebrate!
Today we honored Desert Mission’s graduates, whether they finished high school, college, or postgraduate work. It was an absolute joy to celebrate their achievements – and a great reminder that, as we emerge from what has been a very stressful and isolating time for many of us, it’s so important to find things to celebrate. So this week, keep the celebration going!
Welcome Back! We’ve Missed You
This morning, full worship services were held in the church for the first time since March of last year. It was so wonderful to see so many smiling faces in the building after such a long time away, and such a blessing to be able to gather safely together once again.
On that note, today’s Family Time activity centers around gratitude for our ongoing reconnection.
Honoring Memorial Day
As we once again approach Memorial Day, the day devoted to the remembrance of those who have given their lives in service to their country, we’d like to share ways in which your family can honor the sacrifices of servicemembers and their families.
Go Fly a Kite!
Today’s Pentecost scripture reading featured the moment when “...suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting” (Acts 2:1-21). What better way to connect with this astonishing moment than by flying a kite – or, if you’re feeling crafty, by making one?
Go Beauty Hunting!
This week we’d like to offer you a mindfulness exercise whose simplicity belies its power. “Beauty Hunting” was created by Jennifer Pastiloff, an author and contributor to the Nov/Dec 2020 issue of Yoga Journal, and it can be done by anyone, anywhere, at any time.
