Community Connection
“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
Journey Through the Desert
It’s Scottsdale Western Week! There are lots of events happening in town, many of them free, that your family can experience. But one stands out as unique and rare, even for a cowboy town like this: the ride of the Hashknife Pony Express. And this ride happens to present a great opportunity to connect with your family, your desert home, and your Bible!
A Rainbow of Faith
There is lots of meaning attached to the colors we see in the church – and in the world. From the liturgical colors that change with the season to the presence of rainbow imagery throughout the Bible, colors are everywhere! There are also colors associated with the different aspects of faith, which we invite your family to explore this week.
Let It Snow
A wet cold snap has descended on our corner of Arizona this week, which in many places would signal the onset of snow, but here has resulted (at least as of now) in nothing more than chilly rain. Whether or not we see any actual snow here in the Valley, this weather brings to mind the oft-used expression that no two snowflakes are exactly alike, and neither are people. So this week, we invite you to celebrate your uniqueness through a simple snowflake craft.
Prepare for La Befana
We may have completed our journey around the world in anticipation of Christmas, but as Epiphany approaches, we’d like to invite you to take one more trip with us: to Italy, to hear the story of La Befana, the Christmas witch.
