Community Connection
“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
From Seed Stories to Seed Art
Last week in Sunday School we heard the Creation story, and this week we moved on to the Ark and the Flood. Seeds, and the green, growing things that come from them, play an important role in both stories. We’ll bet your family can think of some other “seed stories” as well. These stories take on a new significance during the fall, when apples, acorns, and pumpkins are everywhere you turn. So this week, make some seed art to go with these seed stories!
Share Some Laughs!
Making friends is always challenging, especially for kids, and those who don’t find it easy have surely had an even more difficult time of it over the past year and a half. There is some really helpful guidance out there for those looking to help their young people make friends, among it a piece of advice that lends itself perfectly to creating some great family memories along the way: learn some jokes!
Go Take a Hike!
Fall is finally here, and while the rest of the country is heading inside to avoid the cold, here in Arizona it’s time for us to head back outside! At the same time, many area schools are on Fall Break, so this week, greet the cooler weather and take a hike!
Sunday School is Restarting Next Week!
We cannot wait to re-open our Sunday School classroom next Sunday, October 3! Our brand-new Youth Group will begin its regular Sunday meetings on that day as well. Whether your family has participated in our youth programming before, or you are joining us for the first time, we wanted to fill you in on what to expect.
Serve with Us!
Sunday School will officially resume on October 3, and we will be kicking off new weekly programming for older youth as well! We are so excited to welcome back our amazing group of young people, as well as the team of wonderful volunteers who make it all possible. We would also like to welcome more enthusiastic, caring folks into our ranks! Here is everything you need to know to serve in Desert Mission’s youth programs:
